To get inland from the coast takes about maybe an hour...on a road that goes exactly (more or less) straight for about 98% of it. On this particular road at one point the road turns at about a 90 degree angle, quite suddenly! We had a talkative tour guide on this trip, and i mean...SHE TALKED ALOT, to much if you ask me! Any how, she was telling us about how this ONE turn forces you to stay awake on this long road of NOTHINGNESS! Even though you want to fall asleep you have to keep asking yourself "where is that turn...where is that turn" because YOU DO NOT want to miss it!
We visited the Mayan Ruins, which was interesting...but if I could go again I would go without the tour guide. It was a great site! I just wanted to move along alot quicker then the slow....talkative...talking forever...still talking...tour guide!
Mexico is a very different place from what i'm used to...barbed wire and peices of glass stuck on fences to keep others off property- kind of a scary thing to look at. Makes me thankful to live in a place like Canada!
Anyway, overall Costa Maya- Mexico is one very interesting place!
